Firstly, most importantly... I've gotten a job @ Vigil Games as an Environment Artist! It's very exciting, moving next week... lots to do!
As for the space hulk project, I've decided to leave the 40k-themed stuff out, for now, and go "generic" whilst still being heavily inspired by the space hulk board game. Finished another segment, made some modifications to the texturing procedures. Starting working on the Wall & ceiling tiles, low poly for the first variation is done, going to detail up the high poly soon. Here are some images of the progress of the finished pieces:

Space Hulk project has begun
After getting through with all the graduation, car nonsense, working on some high poly sketches, it's time to start another project.
This one is going to be based around the Space Hulk game by Games Workshop. Set in the WarHammer 40,000 universe, there is no shortage of sweet concepts, inspiration, art, etc. Plus tons of freedom to do what I really want to.
I'm going to be keeping this as an entirely modular set, with several sections "per-tile"
Anyway, here's the little test floor section I made to see how I like the style. Lots of painted metal... pretty much everything will have 3 significant grunge layers, old (rust) semi-old (blackened) and new (shiny).

Late Updates...
Posting up stuff.
Finished the street scene, did a LOT of work on the graffiti... that stuff is way harder than it looks, but I'm happy with how it came out. More @ http://www.itsrichards.com

Street Scene - WIP 5
Hey! I finally posted something on Polycount... and I'm very thankful that I did. I've forgotten how a little bit of criticism can be so bloody encouraging. More progress, just one shot for this update, but I feel that it's a pretty one! Lots of stuff tweaked, changed and added.

Space Raceship! "NASACAR?"
Currently making a solid blockout for the high poly. I'm pretty sure I'll end up making this thing Asymmetrical, because things that are even, can be rather boring... 'sides, I've already made a ton of symmetrical ships with the modular ship project (27 to be exact!)... if I really get into this, I might do something similar... I do have it in mind. Time will tell! Below are some doodles and a little bit of modeling. I might be changing a lot, depending on how I feel it looks going together.
Street Scene - WIP 4
Nearing completion. Added a small pile of things, a bit of color, tweaked lighting, some depth of field so the sky-box doesn't look so out of place. Not really a whole lot I need to do, I don't think. I'm pretty happy with how this is coming along. I need to do some work on my portfolio page anyway. I can always update the images of this that I post there!

Street Scene - WIP 3.1
Something about adding a "Liquor" sign brings this scene to life. I'm suddenly much happier about the way it's looking.
... or is that my liver talking?

Street Scene - WIP 3
Reworked lighting, got shadows and such to cooperate properly. Added some background elements, nothing huge. Added a couple telephone poles, I'm happy with how they turned out, I may go back through and thin out the wires, but since this is a static scene, I'd like them to be visible, so I may just do it on the foreground pole. I'm going to add a trashcan model, with a couple variations, one of which will be a make-shift fire pit in the far corner in the street to add some light in that large shadowed area, and color. Then it's onto the final decals, graffiti and some street lines. After that, a couple store signs, and this scene should be just about finished! Then it's to the portfolio page to get things updated and streamlined. Very exciting.

Street Scene - WIP 2
Okay, so I've done a bit of work: Added broken wall segment with some modular rubble bits, windows with variations (open, closed, air conditioner), using my own sky dome, tweaked a bunch of materials, adding subtle reflections and detail normals, crack decals for the sidewalk, messed with lighting... still far from satisfied with the way the lighting is going... In any case, more to do!

Street Scene - WIP 1
This project started out with some experimentation with vertex painting in UDK and has evolved into a scene. I'm enjoying it quite a bit, and every day I work on it I feel that I learn something new about UDK. More updates as they come.
Below are some screenshots of the progress so far. The finished beauty shot will be from angles similar to those below.
